Flexible and efficient hydrogen production:
all about the project objectives

Flexible Offshore Wind Hydrogen Power Plant Module (FlexH2)

The objective is to develop and demonstrate the technology to accelerate the scale-up of offshore wind to green hydrogen production.

The FlexH2 innovations:

  • Grid forming wind farm
  • Compact offshore substation
  • Smart allocation of energy to connect to hydrogen plant and grid
  • Compact equipment to connect electrolyzers

Since the wind turbines can energise themselves and the rest of the system, an extra benefit of these innovations is that a grid connection is not strictly needed.

GROW logo

This project is part of a joint research programme in offshore wind called GROW. This consortium initiates research and accelerates innovations. GROW’s strength lies in its ability to run focused, sequential, complementary RD&D activities. The consortium includes 20 leading and committed partners cooperating closely to conduct joint research.
